TypeCon in Minneapolis.
Ahn is an assistant professor of graphic design with the School of Education’s Art Department.

TypeCon is held by the non-profit Society of Typographic Aficionados, and focuses on the areas of typography, type design, printing, letterpress, calligraphy, book arts, design education, and type-related technologies.

Ahn's presentation, “TYPE+CODE III,” addressed the possibilities of an extension of the aesthetic of computational typography from cyberspace to physical space by using digital fabrication. The presentation was based on her project of the same name, a collection of Ahn’s typographic research by using computer codes directly.

TYPE+CODE III is an updated version of TYPE+CODE II, in which Ahn experimented with traditional and cultural oriented calligraphy, reinterpreting them into modern typography with computer codes.
